Gadgets for your Pooch

December 30, 2010 by JW18

kongDogs have an insatiable urge to gnaw and chew just about anything in sight, from your socks, shoes to your furniture. They don’t mean to do this, it may just have to do with the fact their growing teeth are itchy and gnawing seems to alleviate the pain or itch. Being the ever source of gadgets and gizmos for all, we have a nice addition to an innovative approach to dog feeding and entertaining specially when you’re not home.

Larger breeds tend to suffer from a painful and often deadly condition known as bloat, which has a dog eating too fast that the food they eat produces so much gas and expands in their stomachs effectively choking them from within. Dog Kong, is a dog product which dispenses Kongs(strong doggie toys with hollow insides which you stuff with treats) at prescribed times during the day. They’re a toy and treat dispenser all in one package

Go Gadget Crazy At Akihabara

November 23, 2010 by Gadzooki

20070815_infoakihabara_01There is nothing like entering a shopping mall solely dedicated to electronics and electrical appliances. Even the smell of the air is different, and you can’t help but feel giddy with all the possibilities in front of you. If this is your idea of heaven, then the best place to go is Akihabara in Tokyo.

Also known as “Electric Town,” this area of Tokyo is crammed to the seams with hundreds of shops selling electronic gadgets and electrical appliances. Akihabara has made a reputation for itself, both locally and internationally. Indeed, it is one of the most frequented destinations in Tokyo.

More than gadgets, however, Akihabara is also known for being the center of manga as well as cosplay – two art forms that have taken the world by storm. Strolling around the area, you can spot lots of maid cafes, wherein the staff are dressed in maid costumes. They are there to serve the customers in a manner such as how servants would treat their masters. If it is anime and manga that you are impassioned about, then the Tokyo Anime Center is your destination of choice.

If you are worried about Japanese products not being compatible with international standards, you should know that there are also numerous duty free shops in the area. These duty free shops offer overseas specs gadgets and appliances. The staff in these stores is usually multilingual, and are more than ready to assist international customers.

To know more about Akihabara and get an almost real experience, I suggest the free virtual tour being offered online at New Discovery of Akihabara.

ECOLight shower cabin lights

September 30, 2010 by Jim

shower-light_iogis_5638jpg

Definitely a gadget that has great sense and function. Everyone showers everyday (well, I think so), and that water pressure sure is an energy source, even to just light up the bath area. There’s no sense turning on any other light anyway. Now that times are tough, these little geniuses are important. We may not end up using any of them, but it sure does “spark” the noble and needed idea of saving power.

The ECOlight by Sylvania is a water-powered LED shower head. Designed to cater to a sustainable lifestyle, the light comes with temperature sensors. The LED glows blue for temperatures less than 78 degrees Fahrenheit and red for temperatures greater than 105.8 degrees Fahrenheit.

Check out the features:

– Aimable LED light
– Eco friendly design, no wires or batteries required
– Blue LED color scale for temperatures less than 78 degrees Fahrenheit
– Red LED color scale for temperatures greater than 105.8 degrees Fahrenheit
– Rated for maximum water pressure of 85 pounds per square inch (PSI)
– 4 in. x 2.5 in. x 3 in.

Yogen Charger for Life – a ripcord-powered charger

January 12, 2010 by Ade

Capture

I’ve rarely encountered this situation, but I’m sure a couple of you guys have. Let’s say you were stuck in a place – it might be a desert, in the middle of the ocean, or even in your neighbor’s barbecue party – and you need to make a call right away; it’s a life and death situation. What can I say, your neighbor throws the most boring parties and you need to call somebody to rescue you. The thing is, your cellphone’s batteries are just about to die and you don’t have a charger with you. Heck, even if you had a charger you don’t see a wall outlet and that kind of makes it hard to charge your battery.

Fortunately, a company called Yogen thought of that situation ahead of time and created a charger for emergency situations such as that. They’ve created a portable charger generates power if you keep on pulling on its ripcord, so you can easily charge your mobile gadgets on the fly.

The Yogen charger measures 55 mm x 90 mm, 23 mm in dimension and approximately 98 grams in weight. By pulling the charger’s lawnmower-style ripcord, you get to charge your mobile devices that are connected via USB. The charger’s internal alternator will instantly generate power to charge any small to mid-sized personal electronics device such as cell phones, MP3 Player, PDA, iPod, GPS device, cameras, etc. The LED indicators on the charger will show when the mobile devices are being charged.

I personally don’t see myself using this charger often, but having one handy for long trips would be a good idea.

These drives are pretty & cheap!

March 29, 2009 by Jim

jewel-usbjpg1

Fashionable and elegant… I think this is one of the prettiest electronic jewelry around. You really couldn’t tell that this is also a 2GB drive right? Oh and I’m sure your geeky girlfriend will enjoy flashing this around her office. I wouldn’t ‘mind wearing one too if there was a manly version floating around.

Product Specifications:
– Capacity: 2GB
– Giant jewel design
– Fashionable and elegant
– Size: 30*17*9mm
– Weight: 25g
– Colors (Red, Purple, Blue, Black)

You can get your girlfriend a necklace or two right here. US$21 only plus shipping… not bad eh?

I sure do hope that a bigger capacity jewelry necklace comes around soon. I think 2GB is a little too restrictive for comfort. Oh and just in case the thought grazed your mind… no, these aren’t real topaz stones… they’re just dress jewelry.

Coby Deluxe 8″ Digital Photo Frame & Clock

February 24, 2009 by Jim

dp8088_l

Here’s something a little predictable with the deluge of digital photo frames turned “awesome” holiday gifts.  What is there left to build over a good product, attach something to it and make it a little more useful.

This it the Coby DP8088 Deluxe 8″ Digital Photo Frame & Clock with Multimedia Playback and 1GB Built-in Memory.  Sells for a whopping US$99.99, which I’m not really sure why.  Are they turning off consumers?  Maybe.  I’d say a price range of about US$65 to $70 would have been more fair.

cellcEverybody’s sure to have a mobile device today for it has revolutionized the way we communicate with each other. It has created a niche in popular society, responsible for words such as SMS, Texting, Twitter, iReports and many more as testament to our reliance on the said technological wonder. Some love them some hate them but you’d have to give credit that without it, we would still be living in an age where phones had wires.
cellb
Cellular phones are one of the most prolific, intrusive and indispensable technologies we have and they pack a lot of technology in so small a package. From a radio phone, GPS device, digital still and video Camera and a personal digital assistant device, they have all managed to fit in one small box that gives us all the conveniences of communication whatever form it may be.
