Must Have Gadgets and Apps For Writers on the Go

November 16, 2016 by Lucilla

Writers never know when inspiration is going to hit. It’s really one of the most frustrating things because you feel the tremendous force of all the things inside you that are waiting to be said, sung, put to poetry, put to lyrics, or realized in some sort of literary sense. There is so much power in the written word because so many people lock themselves up tight and are unable to express their emotions.

When they hear a song, read a line of poetry, watch a movie, read a book, watch a play, or hear somebody say what it is they’ve been feeling, there is a moment of pure freedom that is experienced. Writers are essential to unlocking the hearts of people. [Read more…]

A rollable Bluetooth keyboard. Why am I excited?

December 26, 2009 by Ade

bt-keyboard

Okay, one of the things I really, really hate about netbooks -especially the early ones- is that their keyboards are probably the worst things on them. Currently, the new ones have almost full-sized keyboards that’ll more or less accommodate large touch-typing hands. Heh, with my Eee PC 701, I’ve been reduced to hunting and pecking for the correct keys. Don’t even get me started on mobile phones and PDAs. Even QWERTY mobile phone keypads are a pain to use long-term. Nothing beats a 100% full-sized keyboard.

Speaking of which, a new keyboard that just passed the FCC guidelines is making a minor buzz right now. Bluetooth keyboards aren’t really something new, and rubberized and roll-up keyboards aren’t something to write home about either. But combine them both and we’d get something pretty neat.

The Bluetooth roll-up keyboard from Chin Fai is probably the first keyboard we’ve seen that combines rubberized roll-up portability with Bluetooth awesomeness. We don’t have much details yet, but I’m sure we can use this on other Blurtooth enabled devices like notebooks, PDAs and some mobile phones. It also charges via USB, which is a nice feature.

From Brad of Liliputing:

There’s no word on price or a launch date yet, but the rubberized keyboard will be available in red or pink. Thanks to the roll-up design, you can essentially carry a full sized keyboard in your pocket. And because of the Bluetooth support, you’re not limited to using the keyboard with computers that have USB connections. In other words, you should be able to use it with some Bluetooth capable mobile phones.

There’s no pricing as of yet, but I’d love to get my hands on one of these babies.

    Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard

    September 14, 2008 by Jim

I know what you’re thinking… you’ve probably seen this in a movie somewhere, perhaps by Tom Cruise?  Hmmm… I’m not too sure when I first saw the concept.  One thing’s for sure though, it’s not a concept anymore.

This is a matchbox-size gadget that projects a 63-key QWERTY keyboard on any flat surface.  It actually works!  And to provide you at least with an audible feeling of using an actual tactile keyboard, you can hear “ticking sounds” as you type away.

You’re sure to turn heads around when you turn this on!  Here are the specifications:

    • Connects to PDAs Smartphones and Computers using Bluetooth
    • Projects a full size keyboard onto any flat surface
    • Allows the convenience of regular keyboard typing in a tiny form factor
    • Rechargeable battery lasts for 120 minutes of continuous typing
    • Tiny size only 3.5 inches high
    • Compatible with PalmOS 5, PocketPC 2003, Windows Smartphone, Symbian OS, and Windows 2000/XP. Limited Mac OSX Support.
Of course it’s for PDAs or any other Bluetooth device needing a keyboard.
This device communicates over Bluetooth and is compatible with PalmOS 5, PocketPC 2003, Windows Smartphone, Symbian OS, and Windows 2000/XP with limited Mac OS X Support.  Awwww… too bad for the Mac fans!
    Sold right here for US$159.99
