iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

November 3, 2012 by Caren

Whenever a new mobile phone has just come out, it’s customary to compare it with the current leader of the pack to see how it measures up. The hottest, latest smartphone right now is Apple’s iPhone 5, while the reigning champ is Samsung’s Galaxy S3. Which one of these is better? Let’s find out how each one stacks up.

Design and construction

At first glance, this category seemed like a no-brainer: the iPhone 5’s stunning industrial design and craftsmanship has certainly no equal. However, the Galaxy S3’s slightly curved rear end feels better to the touch, compared to the iPhone’s stark corners. However, the case for the S3 goes downhill when you pore over its cheap-looking plastic body, versus the iPhone 5’s aluminum construction. [Read more…]

July 15, 2011 by Noemi

iDJ Live

iDJ Live

Fancy yourself a DJ? You don’t have to be a world renowned DJ to be able to play with music and create your own mixes. Even better, with all the gadgets that you can get your hands on these days, you can play at being a DJ whenever you want to. Before you know it, you might even become famous.

If you already have an iPad, an iPhone, or an iPod Touch, here is a nifty little gadget that you would love to get your hands on – the iDJ Live from Numark. The iDJ Live is an iOS DJ controller that will delight people in all the DJ-ing stages. I mean the DJ wannabe who does not know a thing about DJ-ing, the newbie DJ, the amateur DJ who plays music at his friends’ parties, and even the pro DJ.

How does the Numark iDJ Live work? You simply hook it up to you Apple device, and then spin however, whatever you want! One really important thing, though, is the software. The iDJ Live was designed to work with existing software from Algoriddim, Djay for iPad.

The app is a little pricey at $19.99 (if you compare it to the $0.99/$5.00 apps), but this software is one mean DJ-ing tool. Not only has the app satisfied users because of its function, but it has also received the Apple Design Award.

If you don’t particularly like Djay or you don’t want to buy it, you can also use other similar software – as long as it’s Core MIDI-enabled – with the iDJ Live. Key features of the iDJ Live:

  • Scratch wheels are large enough to make the experience more natural
  • There is a crossfader that allows mixing between songs
  • The package includes a headphone/speaker split cable that allows for separating cue and play performance audio
  • Bass and treble controls
  • You also get an iPad stand

For sure, the $100 that you will have to shell out for the iDJ Live will be paid back in full – even double – once you enjoy spinning for your friends. Find out more about the iDJ Live from the official web site.
