I have a few songs under my belt, yes they have seen the inside of a radio station too... played it once or twice actually.  But I'm not THE composer, like I have a grand piano in my home ready for my "moment" to glory with that hitsong.  This gadget is really handy for those like me who's not really "there" in writing songs.  I am not as gifted, not even a beginner at that. Yamaha designed this concept portable keyboard cum notebook, dubbed as "key for journey".  I think this will hit it big in the media world.  While it's not your standard full length keys, the most used are there.  It's battery operated (of course) ...

Pranksters Invade Starbucks With Desktop Computers Oh man, I love this article on Engadget. Got me snickering as pranksters bring their desktop computers to Starbucks to mooch WiFi. We all know that we usually get the limelight if we bring out our laptops, but this is so funny and plus its great publicity for Starbucks. And the funny thing about is they're using Windows 95, yeah hello nostalgia. Desktops are In (again) pic courtesy of Engadget We've already seen the confusion and hilarity some so-called "portable" computers can cause when taken out into public, but those shenanigans are nothing compared to the scene stirred up when the folks from Improv Everywhere lugged some ancient desktop computers ...

If you're looking to unlock all firmware versions of the iPhone (including the current 1.1.3 version), a new Website will lend a helping hand - for $27.50US, £14.00 or 18.70 Euros. The iPhone unlocking software gets the job done in under 10 minutes and each purchase includes video instructions on getting the deed done. No matter where in the world you're located, you'll be able to use any type of GSM SIM, maximize the iPhones iPod capabilities, receive RSS Feeds, use your client chat interface, and browse the Web via WiFi. Given AT&T's service track record in my neck of the woods, the ability to use an iPhone on any network worldwide is appealing (this method will NOT work on Verizon).  ...

The more I've thought about Modu, the modular cellular handset that launches on October 1 with carriers in Russia, Italy, and Israel, the more intrigued I become. Called a glorified SIM card by some, Modu offers the basics of a cell phone (calls, texting, contacts), with the expandability to power an array of electronic devices. Based around a concept of "jackets," you'll be able to dock Modu into specially designed gadgets. From GPS devices to digital cameras, the options appear endless.

I've been subscribing to podcasts for the past 6 months and to tell you frankly, they have become part of my daily to do's.  I used to follow cable TV schedules so I can watch specific segments of CNN and BBC news, but now, I just hit the refresh button on iTunes and watch them when I want to.  It has been very easy to follow what's happening with the rest of the world thru podcasts, like those from CNN's "Anderson Cooper's 360" and "In case you missed it". I think I have about 30+ podcast subscriptions I download on my Dell Inspiron 8600 (yes I still have a Dell Inspiron 8600, but that's another story!).  Varied podcasts from Larry King ...

Flip Video 1GB Made specifically for the Youtube nation in mind. The need for high-def video recorders seem at it's peek for the ever growing number of homemade family videos and such. This is not actually a high-def videocam but at 640x480, the Flip Video’s resolution still packs a punch on a 60-inch, 1080p set. With 1GB of internal flash memory, one hour of video, the Flip Video is powered by AA batteries. That is very simple enough to capture a priceless moment of your friend falling off the stairs to be posted later at Youtube. To store your videos in your PC, flip out the built-in USB connector and hook it up in your ...

altoid-cmoy.jpgWhen it comes to music and my music collection I am quite serious. I may have a very tight budget for indulging in this hobby but I still want to get the best out of it whenever possible. I've had my iPod for almost two years now and it has been my constant companion wherever I go. I love bringing my music with me because it keeps me from being bored -- like when I have to accompany the wife in her grocery runs or when I'm waiting in line at the bank. But aside from my iPod I also have one constant companion -- the cmoy amp that I always pair ...

This is a question that comes up in a variety of situations - from the novice computer user to the PC salesman. Storage and use; these are the two drivers behind any user space requirement. In my old laptop I had a 30 gig hard drive. Today, there are multimedia players featuring double that. My new laptop has 100 gig, two-thirds more. The space is good, and my needs on the base system (and hard drive) have actually lessened due to purchasing a 200 gig external drive. This, coupled with my laptop and Xbox 360 form not only a lot of tech but a decent home entertainment hub. Lets do a quick audit of drives here: Laptop: 100 ...

Silverlight – Is This Going To Be Web 3.0?

It’s not that often when a technology comes along that leaves me amazed. You know, the sort of thing when you look at it you think “wow, this is good. Not just good, but perhaps is going to make a difference to websites in a very real way in the near future”. [...]

The 3G iPhone

I’ve had 3G on my Nokia N95 enabled since I got it – which is about a month or two ago now. I was thus surprised to learn that the iPhone didn’t include this much faster way to connect to the Internet. Consequently, I wasn’t exactly surprised when Steve Jobs big announcement turned [...]

GPS in 3D: Navigon 7200T GPS Navigator

I’ve had my fair share of traveling around the USA with my trusty NextStar GPS system.  I never leave home without it, Chicago has too many freeways, turn pikes and fly overs for me to deal with.  When I need to get from point A to point B in Chicago land and the [...]
