Well, I finally took the plunge and ordered and Xbox 360. I don’t know how long it will take to get here, as I have never had very good luck ordering certain things online. I ordered an ultimate bundle from a company in the same area as I live, and it came with the Premium Xbox 360, and an extra wireless controller, play and charge kit and rechargable battery.
I told my boss, Jacob, that I had ordered it and he was curious the price. I told him that after tax and shipping and whatnot, it came to $600 ($505 USD), and he was taken back in a bit of shock. See here up in Canada we pay a bit of a premium on technology. While the Xbox 360 premium edition is $399 USD in the States, it is $499 CDN here. Which if we quickly convert that…we are paying $420 US for the Premium bundle, and in Ontario we have to pay 15% tax on top of that…so it adds up quick.
The bundle I ordered does not come with any games, but I am looking at ordering Call of Duty 2, as it is the game I have had the most fun playing at the demo Kiosk at Futurehop. I will hopefully also buy Kameo, and Project Gotham Racing. If not PGR or Kameo then maybe I will grab Need for Speed Most Wanted and King Kong. Who knows what games I might get, as everything is up in the air.
It might not be until January or February of 2006 before I get my Xbox 360 if the shortages are really out there. Thankfully, I am in no real rush, as I can jump on the bus and go game at Futureshop or Best Buy. And if I have to wait to get the system, more games will be out, and I might be able to get my hands on some better games to have for the long term, and just rent the others.
