I finally got a shot at playing the Xbox 360. Last night, when I went out, I stopped in at Futureshop, and they had a bigger television up in the game console area, and I immediately knew what it had to be for: Xbox 360.
I almost leaped out of my skin as a I ran over and saw the setup. I picked up the controller and noticed how much lighter it was than any console controller I have picked up in a long time. It was a wired controller that was attached directly to the console hidden away in a black box.
My hands slid into place and it was a little more comfortable than the orginal Xbox controller, and because if its reduced weight, it just “felt” right. I looked at the screen and I was already in the middle of a battle. I was a floating fairy. I tapped on one of the buttons, and turned into a blue ogre type creature. I picked up an ork and threw him onto my spiky back.
The buttons were extremely responsive. I stopped the game, and looked quickly at the dashboard. Everything flowed, everything looked amazing.
The game I later found out was Kameo: Elements of Power. The game controls were a little odd as most of the main buttons were to transform into various different characters, but once I got the hang of it, I could climb walls, and easily kill the foes around me.
The display being used was a 27″ widescreen LCD, and the game looked awsome on it. I could not see the console, but it had to be around there somewhere. I was hoping to play some other games, but I could not find a way to get to an area to change it.
I did not want to leave, so I gave my brother, who was with me at the time, a turn on the machine. He grabbed the controller, and after a few on screen prompts from the game, he was doing pretty good in the game.
All in all it was a great experience that only raised my interest in having the Xbox 360 when it is released.
