IGN has some information about Gearbox. It looks like they have licensed the Unreal Engine, and are going to use it. I can’t wait. As a gamer, I get excited when good engines are used to make great games. Here’s hoping…
Fresh from their Liberation Party last night to celebrate the impending release of Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood, Gearbox announced today that the company has licensed Epic’s Unreal 3 Engine for the next iteration of the Brothers in Arms series as well as unspecified upcoming games.
Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software, stated that the company has “chosen Unreal Engine 3 as the exclusive technology we will use for all of our own titles going forward into the next generation”
According to an unconfirmed report from last night’s party, Epic showed off some work for BiA 3 that included a “stunning” 3d model of a tank, artillery piece, and a character model with “impressive” character design. The report went on to state that the short demo involving a combat scene that featured “glass flying everywhere, and just debris like crazy flying around” while trying to dislodge three or four German soldiers from a storefront.
