Victimized by my Invisible contacts, in a sick and weird joke to disturb me in my blogging trance. I searched for ways to check and see if they are really out there lurking waiting for a chance to pounce at me and start asking insane questions that have no answers.

There’s the easy way :

The easy way number 1 — Using the Yahoo! Conference settings

  1. Click on the Contact to open a conversation with that contact.
  2. Click the Conference button and he Conference window will open up.
  3. Click the Invite button. If the Talk button is highlighted, then your contact is online, if not he/ she’s offline.

The easy way number 2 — Using the Yahoo! Doodle IMvironment

  1. Click on the Contact to open a conversation with that contact.
  2. Click the IMvironment button.
  3. Select See all IMvironments then pick Yahoo! tools and Doodle

  4. If you see the Doodle IMvironment, then your contact is offline, if the screen is blank he is actually online

And now there’s a much easier way :

For those who are lazy, this should spare you a few clicks go to these sites to find your invisible Yahoo! friends.

  1. Invisible.ir
  2. Xeeber

If you got more ways to check for Invisible YM Contacts, share them…

    I know some ways! here:
#1. Download Buddy Spy (download link: http://www.buddy-spy.com/files/BuddySpySetup.exe).
    Buddy Spy Manual

    Install
First, you must download it. You can use the ’save as’ method, that is when your right click and then go to save as and then move where the zip is saved to where ever you want.

Second, you now have to unzip and take the Buddy Spy Install file out (double click the zip and then move the Buddy Spy Install [Buddy Spy] file to where ever you want it). Now you double click it, follow the steps shown on the newly open Buddy Spy window.

Anti-Virus/Firewall Software Installed On Your Computer
Okay, lately we’ve been having problems with some anti-virus/firewall systems. In order to fix this, all you have to do is make/allow Buddy Spy to connect to the web by going to your anti-virus/firewall allow list, and adding Buddy Spy to the list.

Setup Up Buddy Spy For Your Computer
Now, after it’s installed, you need the setting right for your computer and Internet connection. Open up the Buddy Spy.exe and go to Scan Options. Here’s the tricky part, now you have to set what you best like. For the scanning method we (the forum members) believe that Peer 2 Peer is the best choice since it is the more reliable, the other choices are not as good but are there if you still want to use them.

Pause time, is recommended for 1-4 seconds on high speed connections such as DSL/Cable. On dial up increase the pause time to suit your needs generally speaking from 6-10 seconds)

The Automatic Update is when you leave Buddy Spy running for several minutes and want an update on the hiding user(s). It’s set to 5 minutes, but your able to change it to suit your preferences.

Buddy Spy Bot and Configure Settings
In order for Buddy Spy to run correctly, you need a bot (a user ID). Now, you should create a new one souly for Buddy Spy; since if you use a ID that is used to chat, you can loose your offline messages; etc. Click the Create a Separate Account and continue making a new ID with whatever info you want. After it’s done, put the Bot’s ID on the top text area, and the pass below. Turn on Automatic Login if you want it to auto login when Buddy Spy is open.

The connection settings should work fine, but sometimes Yahoo is fixing or something and sometimes the severs won’t work right, so if your Bot does not login; just change the severs and make sure the ID/Password is correct.

Report settings, you can kinda tell what they do, but I’ll explain anyways. When scanning there is a box that shows the report(s) on the user(s). The View Grid makes it easier (for me at least) to tell the scans and users a part, as well as the Scan History. Change color shows the user and report in different colors making it even easier when reading the report, again, as well with the Scan History.

Bot Status Settings, Fake Idle – that shows the Bot to have a fake idle on. Fake Web Cam – That makes the status show a fake web cam is on. Available – Shows the Bot on normal status. Invisible – Makes that Bot come up on invisible to all users. Custom Status Message – You type something in the text box below and when the Bot is logged in, it will show whatever is in the text area.
    Scanning Options
Single Scan is when you put a user ID name in the text area making it so that ID is scanned. It auto completes if you retype in the ID as well as the other(s) ID(s) you want to scan.

List Scan, is when you add IDs to a list and then having have Buddy Spy scan that. You can save the list, delete, add on to it, etc.

Scan Options, that is just what you want to scan, enable/disable at your wish. The Options link just brings you back to the Scan Options

Status Report, that’s where the report of the user(s) go. You can more your cursor along the names, and if you wish to re-scan the user, just double click that name.

Scan button, starts the scans of the user(s).

#2. 1. Double Click on the user whose status you want to check.
    2. A message window will open.
    3. Click IMVironment button, select See all IMVironments, select Yahoo! Tools or Interactive Fun, and click on Doodle.
    4. The last step and the most important step. After loading the Doodle IMVironment, there will be two possibilities.
    a) If the user is offline, the Doodle area will show “waiting for your friend to load Doodle” continuously.
    b) If the user is online (in invisible mode), after few seconds (it can take up to one minute, depending on connection speed), you will get a blank page. So the user is online!

#3. 1. Double Click on the user whose status you want to check.
    2. Click on “Voice” icon on the toolbar, or select “Contact” menu and select “Enable Voice Chat” .
    3. The deciding part… there are 2 possible results:
    a) If the user is offline, you will get this message: “Internal server error. Cannot obtain voice token to start voice chat.”
    b) If the user is invisible (actually online), you will see the Voice Toolbar.

#4. 1. Right Click on the user whose status you want to check.
    2. When the menu appears, select Invite to Conference.
    3. A window will appear. See at the right pane, the username you selected will be there. Now, click Invite.
    4. The deciding part… there are 2 possible results:
    a) If the user is offline, you will get this message: “None of the users in the invite list are available to join the conference. Please try at a later time.”
    b) If the user is invisible, you will get a window similar saying: “You are now logged into voice conference”.

    Or
do it by the other people’s way in the other comments.
