I’m guessing that burning five candles at both ends at the same time thing is doing wonders for your productivity and finances, but your sleeping habits have taken a major hit and – wait, what is a sleeping habit? So. You need to sleep. And you need to sleep now. In the middle of the park. Fashion, safety, and propriety be damned.
What you need is the sleep suit. Wait, what?
It is inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s practice of Dymaxion Sleeping, which involves four 30-minute naps over a period of 24 hours, and the material requirements for such conditions. Architecturally, the very close relationship between the human body and the suit acts as the generator of form as well as tool to negotiate between the occupant and his or her surroundings. The structure of the material, a structural pleat, is used as a means to create feelings of connected and disconnectedness as well as provide varying levels of support for different parts of the body. By thinking of the cut pattern as sections of the body, the structure can act as a semi-permeable outer skin.
So basically since the Dymaxion Sleeping principle is more efficient than the current 8-12 hour sleep rituals we currently practice, we need a suit that can be easily carried around and worn so if your sleep schedule falls when you’re having a picnic, it won’t be a hassle to find a good sleeping spot. Just put the suit on and drop. So it looks really stupid, but when everyone else is falling asleep in their cubicles, you can just laugh at them once you wake up from your 30-minute power nap.
I still won’t wear this though.
