If there’s one feature inside a car that can be considered a “legacy device” it will have to be the cigarette lighter socket. It’s a holdover from a time when cigarette smoking was still considered cool and not the cancer developing addiction that it truly is. But despite the fact that cigarette smoking is not as popular anymore, the cigarette lighter socket still remains as a standard feature in all cars. [Read more…]

Laptops have changed the way we use computers. They’re small, portable and you can bring them anywhere. But despite really obvious advantages, laptops still have their own limitations. For example, majority of the speakers installed on laptops produce tinny sounds mainly because the drivers are very small. Fingertip Mini USB Trackball
It’s a little helpful gadget to have, a USB trackball has its value in tight areas where the table-top maybe too size-restrictive or totally prohibitive. While I’d imagine the trackpad would have been naturally your rescue device it just may not work in specific situation… like when you have your laptop on your lap and the trackpad is just too near your belly. Picture it now?
Shanghai-based computer peripheral maker Evergreen sells this at about US$20. Notice that it comes equipped (as with the notebook mini mouse) with a retractable cable. Look closely and you’d see that the track ball is almost as small as a Blackberry pearl, the same is surrounded by three buttons representing the left, right and middle mouse buttons.
I have no clue if there is a software driver for this… I’m guessing it has. This mini USB trackball is only compatible with Windows XP and Vista systems.
Teufel creates compact USB stereo speaker system
If you like the sort of speakers Teufel is producing for hi-fi systems and would like something of decent quality for your laptop or desktop PC, with the added bonus of a built-in USB hub, then look no further than the new Concept B 200 USB stereo speaker system.
Rather than having to use the audio output jack from your PC or Mac (if indeed it has one — most do but some don’t) you simply plug the speakers into a spare USB 2.0 socket and away you go.
