There’s no doubt that Nissan’s Cube has proven to be a huge success in Japan – even if it hasn’t really penetrated other territories as of yet. However, the Denki Cube Concept (denki being Japanese for electricity) has recently been shown off at the British Motor Show – too much critical acclaim.

The Denki Cube is powered by state of the art EV technology that emits twice the amount of power as a standard electrical battery and is likely to appear in a number of Nissan vehicles in the future. Interestingly, the Denki is very similar to the production Cube, in that it doesn’t have many curves, instead maximising the amount of interior space for the passengers so it literally resembles its’ namesake.

Perhaps the most famous aspect of the Cube is the asymmetrical design – the rear end is not matching on both sides. A bold move no doubt – but one that simply adds more character and charm to this unique vehicle.

At the front, there’s the charging port with a standard AC adaptor, as well as a unique headlamp design that incorporates LED’s and a main light to give a discharge effect. Across the grill there are lightning bolt cut-outs – I doubt this will survive the final production.

Whether you believe that electricity is the answer to the possibility that one day we’ll run out of oil, there’s no doubting that it is a funky looking vehicle that is great for travelling around urban spaces.
