Broadcom has announced that it will be supplying the bluetooth technology for Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii system. That means that the Wii will feature wireless (hey kids, that means no wires!) controllers.
Take note: these will be the standard controllers that ship with the system! No need to go out and pay money to replace your wired controllers with bluetooth wireless ones.
With this announcement, Nintendo becomes the first gaming company to offer bluetooth controllers straight out of the box as the standard option. This is very good news as some of the Wii videos from e3 seemed to show people clumsily trying to hold the Wiimote wires out of the way while they rythmically moved their arms around. No wires makes complete sense for a controller that was designed to move. Great move Nintendo!
