It looks like three men could face upt to seventeen years in a federal prison for modifying the original Xbox. Two owners of a Hollywood video game store, as well as a third man, were recently indicted by a federal grand jury for modifying the consoles to disable copy protection, and preloading copyrighted games onto the machines and selling them.
The case stems from an investigation by the Entertainment Software Association, whose investigators reported that they had bought a modified Xbox from the store in May 2005.
I know this is not Xbox 360 news, but for those looking to modify the Xbox 360, you might want to think about that deeply before you do something that could put you behind bars.
