Usually, it takes around a year or two for computer hardware to catch up to gaming hardware, but it looks like things are going to be a lot closer for next generation hardware, which leaves the console makers with only one advantage for now: price. It looks like there is already an ATi video card that will match the GPU of the Xbox 360.
Sites like HardOCP and Tech Report have already uncovered the specs of the ATi Radeo x1900, which will have more or less the same specs as the Xbox 360’s graphics processor.
The high end of the line, the Radeon x1900 XTX will reportedly have 48 pixel pipelines, and a 650 mhz CPU core and 512 megs of high-end 1.5 Ghz RAM.
You can apparently order a lower-end model over the net which is the Radeon x1900 XT for round $800.
