One of the most important things that the world should know about gamers is that we are a good bunch of people, and I think that is lost on the world due to the anti-gamer media exposure. The Child’s Play charity has set the record straight two years in a row and is looking at going on three, as they have opened up the charity to hospitals in Canada, and hopefully soon in the U.K.
Penny Arcade, the originators of the charity, started with one children’s hospital, asking the gaming community, their comic readership, for donations, and they raised around $64,000 in toys, games and cash for the hospital. The second year they expanded the amount of hospitals, and made sure each one recieved some gaming equipment and money. It’s an amazing thing they are doing, and I hope their third year goes even better.
