Pro G has the details on two new games that will eventually make their way to the Xbox 360. The first is Hostile Intent – Planetfall.
an action game which stays well clear of the complex elements which were the hallmarks of the Battlecruiser and Universal Combat games. According to 3000 AD president Derek Smart we can expect “Improved graphics engines, advanced AI, massive game world and nail biting scenarios.”
Smart says massive game worlds, but don’t expect the same scale as found in 3000 AD’s previous titles. The worlds will, however, be much larger than those traditionally found in console games. Expect scenarios to include “space and planetary excursions; first person and vehicular combat as well as a skill based progress system (e.g. from pilot to commander) through a revised campaign system.”
The second game is KnightBlade – Line Of Defense.
It is the first of a planned trilogy of titles which tell the story of “a band of renegades in a stolen experimental GALCOM craft – the GCV-KnightBlade who – against overwhelming odds, are the last line of defense against an embattled Earth.”
The game has been designed from the ground up using the Reality Engine and the entire game is said to be rendered in glorious 3D. The NightBlade features a crew of fourteen including a commander, his XO, navigator, combat pilots and a bunch of marines. The game action takes place in space and on planet surfaces and features first-person as well as aerial and vehicle combat.
Am I the only one that think these titles sound fairly similar and familiar to other titles? I guess we will have to wait and see how they will turn out though I know that the Xbox could use some more Halo-esque titles in their line-up, and these sound like they will fit the bill.
