Automation does have a nice ring to it. Who wouldn’t want to live in a world where many of the things we don’t like to do can be done by a robot? It’s a real Jetson moment we’re looking for.
Fortunately, technology is slowly bringing us a world where automation at home is real possibility. Enter the Samsung Navibot SR8845 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner. Okay, it’s not really going to make you cappuccino while you’re watching TV. But at least YOU can watch TV while someone’s doing the vacuuming for you.
The Samsung Navibot doesn’t really break new ground because robotic vacuum cleaners have been released before. What this is, is more like an improvement on the previous products. This unit features 37 sensors located all around its circular body. It also has a camera on it. The sensors and camera work in tandem to create a map of your home in its memory. The Navibot then uses the information to avoid any obstacles or overhangs and even stopping when it reaches the edge of your stairs. It then learns the best cleaning path for your home. Set it free in your house before you go out and it will continue cleaning your house until it is finished or until it needs to recharge, where it would then automatically go to its dock and recharge itself.
The cool thing about the Navibot is that you can also set up different cleaning modes. For example, you can put it on Spot Clean mode if you want it to clean something that spilled on the floor. It will clean an area in ever widening spirals to make sure that what was spilt will be thoroughly picked up. If you want it to clean the edges or skirting boards of your house, set it on Edge mode and will creep along the walls of your room. It even has a built-in HEPA filter to trap allergens in case you have pets in the house.
