If there are two things my gadget addicted friends love right now – it’s tinkering with their iPad 2’s and upgrading their home theater setups. Both are fun to do but rarely will those two really meet, that is, until iLuv thought of a way of combining these two hobbies.
Recently, iLuv released the iMM514 Artstation Pro, a cool new dock that basically transforms your iPad 2 into the monitor of a portable home theater. The Artstation Pro is composed of a rectangular base that contains much of the unit’s innards and an arm that just out from the back. You attach your iPad to the arm, which is fully articulated and can be swung from side to side. The wide range of motion ensures that you get the optimum viewing angle wherever you are. Of course, you can use the arm as well as a handy stand for your iPad. For example, if you use your iPad as a second monitor .You don’t need to worry that the whole thing will topple over because the base is quite heavy. The base contains the speaker module (which explains the heaviness). You can also use the whole dock as a traditional audio dock if you want. The Artstation Pro has a small wireless remote that allows you to control a number of functions like track skipping or volume adjustments. When not in use, the remote can be magnetically attached to the base so it won’t fall off or get misplaced.
You can extend the whole functionality of the iPad – Artstation Pro combo by downloading iLuv’s free iLuv App 3.06 (available at the App Store) to turn the Artstation Pro into an internet radio, a stylish alarm clock or music player. It can even broadcast local weather if you want.
