Skateboards are cool. And that’s the picture that’s painted by the media when it comes to skateboarding. I admit it really does look cool ‘boarding your way around streets and doing those awesome looking tricks. But if you’re already a skateboarder I don’t think you’d look at your fellow skateboarders as cool people.
Not unless, of course, they use a Skatecycle.
Think of Skatecycle as a skateboard mutated into something that is just beyond-words cool. Or a skateboard that has aspirations to enter the world of Tron. Skatecycle is a product of US based company Brooklyn Workshop. These guys deserve to win some kind of design award for this utterly awesome looking gadget. It doesn’t look wicked, it’s an engineering achievement as well.
The Skatecycle is the world’s first hubless skate that is also self propelled. All you need to do to make this baby glide is quite simple. Put in your feet into the spaces at both ends of the skate (this is where the hubs should be) and you can already glide down any slope much like a snowboarder would, or just roll around on the flat road. You can actually just ride around all you want because the genius design lets you roll even without the help of gravity. You won’t even need to push yourself on the ground.
The Skatecycle is also very convenient in that it can be folded neatly if you want to carry it to your home or store it.
Granted, the Skatecycle has a learning curve to it. You just can’t get on it and expect to be transformed into Tony Hawk. It will take some practice just to get the hang of gliding but the rewards are worth it. And you’ll look as cool as ever to boot. That alone is worth the bruised bum.
