Clothes that charge your gadgets

June 13, 2011 by Rogue

Is there such a thing as a fashion-forward gadget geek? Seems kind of far fetched to me, but if you’re one of these rare animals then you should be checking out the clothes being offered by a company called Silvr Lining.

Silvr Lining is a company that produces clothes which goes beyond personal  statement by using organic materials and incorporating technology into it to transform their clothes into something that is beyond fashion and utilitarianism. One of their newest collections is called the Go Collection. This is a sportswear collection that is not just stylish but extremely useful for gadget lovers as well. The clothes are incorporated with solar charging panels in strategic areas. These panels are then used to help charge the various gadgets we carry within our person all throughout a typical day. The clothes – which come in jackets, cargo pants and vests – have handy pockets. All you need to do is to put your gadget inside the pockets and it will start charging. This function is extremely useful because most of the gadgets we carry things we love to use (otherwise why carry them, right?) and because of this we often find ourselves in a situation where these gadgets will get low on power and sometimes eventually die.

These clothes are beyond stylish though. Some of them actually look futuristic enough to actually turn the heads and elicit comments. Some of the designs actually look like a uniform of sorts.

The Silvr Lining Go Collection is priced at the higher end  of the scale. For example, the cargo pants are on sale for 920 bucks – definitely not cheap. The jacket is sold for $1180 and the vest is at $620. The price means that not a lot of people will be able to afford it. But if you’re one that does, you’ve got a real fashion and technology statement going for you.
