Apple announces new HD-friendly iMacs

October 21, 2009 by Andy Merrett

Apple has yet again upgraded its line of all-in-one iMacs, this time offering video-friendly 16:9 displays capable of displaying high definition video.

You can choose from either a 21.5-inch or 27-inch widescreen LED-backlit display, capable of at least a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution (up to 2,560 x 1,440), with up to a 3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor or the new 2.8GHz Intel Core i5 — a first for Apple.

If you’re a fan of all-in-one systems, the new iMacs could be for you. Personally, I prefer separate units, but that’s just my own preference. There’s little doubt that these are quite impressive powerhouses in a gorgeous body.

Prices start at $1,199 in the US.
