Anime is any hand-drawn or computer-generated animation which originates from Japan. We can consider it quite an influential style of animation. It has a diverse medium, production methods, and genres. Its popularity has transcended Asia and has reached popularity in the West in the last couple of decades. So popular is this art style that it has its own national and international festivities. One of these would be National Anime day.
What is National Anime Day?
National Anime day is a special event celebrated throughout the world by anime fans. It was first established back in the mid-1970s as a convention in Tokyo. Since then, National Anime day has been a celebrated event in Tokyo and in many places around the world.
This kind of animation style specifically refers to cartoons that are created in Japan. This makes it distinct from other kinds of animation. However, creating anime has become quite an art in the last few decades and the art style is now popular in many places in the world. As such, any animation that follows the same style and presentation created in other parts of the world is also considered anime.
What Day Is National Anime Day 2022?
Observed annually every 15th of April, National Anime Day is a day to celebrate Japanese anime. National Anime Day 2022 is a Friday. So there is plenty of time to spend if you are planning on a trip (to an anime con or to celebrate it with your friends).
Why do we celebrate anime? The answer is simple. It is an important event to honor and appreciate the art.
What to Do on National Anime Day?
The best way to celebrate National Anime day, per tradition, is to join the Anime Expo in Japan. But restrictions due to the current pandemic have affected attendance significantly. Anime fans all over the world have found new ways to celebrate the event.
Host an anime-movie marathon
What better way to celebrate National Anime day than to throwback to all the greatest anime movies of all time. Host a movie marathon of all your favorite anime movies with your friends and loved ones. You can include them while planning by asking them to pitch in anime shows and movies they like to watch. Then, you can create a poll where all the participants can vote on which movies they would like to be included in the marathon. To make it even more fun, you can ask your friends and loved ones to dress up as their favorite anime characters.
The best thing about this is that it can be done in person or even online. So, distance is not even a problem!
Attend an Anime Con
It does not really have to be on the day of National Anime Day, you can attend an anime convention before or even after. There are lists online of all the anime cons for April 2022 and which venues they would be held at. We’re pretty sure these events would have special promos for the celebration. So, don’t miss it!
Binge-watch a new anime
Yes, we all have our all-time favorites. But, doesn’t it feel exciting and adventurous to find new anime shows to binge-watch?
Exchange manga or comic books with your friends
We’re pretty sure you have a few comic book and manga collections you haven’t touched in years. And your friends do as well. You can exchange a few books with your friends as a celebration of National Anime day. Just make sure you have a strict return policy though. LOL.
