The Web-Connected Printer

October 31, 2012 by Caren

The newest models of printers available in the market can now be connected to the Internet.  This provides for three main benefits including the ability to print from anywhere with a web connection which is facilitated by sending an email to the printer’s email address, enjoyment of various print apps, and the ability to manage e-print settings, using any browser regardless of location.  For purposes of understanding this product better, we can look into an HP printer that supports its ePrint offering.

The process is quite simple.  It is initiated by sending an email containing the document to be printed to the address of the printer.  Printable documents include images, photos, PDFs, and Word and Powerpoint documents.  It is the most convenient printing option available today although there may be some issues in the appearance of the printed document.  There may be a slight variation from the original document in style, formatting, and text.  It is highly recommended to use the software application of computers when printing documents that need to retain its original form such as legal documents.  In this way, users are given more control in how their printouts would appear.  The HP ePrint service is provided for free when customers have the corresponding ePrint enabled printer.

An added bonus to the service is the availability of special print applications which allow users to print text, photos, and graphics sourced from the Internet.  Although the print apps provide access to the more popular contents, browsing cannot be done using the device.  One interesting feature is the Scheduled Delivery Section which facilitates automatic printing of contents at designated dates and time.

A valid user account with a partnering company is needed to enable users to print their own content using the apps.  Owners of web-connected printers are currently allowed to download the apps for free .  There may be variations in the print apps available depending on the model of the printer and the country location of the user.

Web-connected printers are seen as a useful improvement on a common equipment or gadget used for personal and business purposes.  With the fast pace of life today, people need to have access to the most convenient way of completing their tasks through more options and added convenience .  Consumers will always welcome products that allow them to have more time to attend to other pressing needs, knowing that there are options available for their printing tasks.

About the Guest Blogger:

Eric is an entrepreneur and frequent traveler who has had the chance to try this printing option.  He advises people  like him to have good quality printer inks such as those from Stinky Ink readily available to avoid any inconvenience.

Banksy-Locations: The App for Banksy Fans

July 27, 2011 by Noemi

Banksy-Locations

Anyone who has heard of Banksy and has seen his art will agree that there indeed should be an app for finding Banksy’s work. This talented individual is just as elusive as he is talented. To date, I don’t think a single soul knows who Banksy really is. While that statement is probably untrue, for all intents and purposes, practically everyone has no clue as to Banksy’s identity. We do know he is a British graffiti artist and a political activist. That’s about it.

The good news is that we do not have to find his identity out in order to enjoy his art. Banksy’s works are scattered in different places, and if you really want to take a look at all his work, you might have to do a fair bit of research. If you’re really into Banksy, then that shouldn’t pose a problem. Then again, if you are pressed for time and would like to do it via the easier way, here’s the app for you: Banksy-Locations.

Banksy-Locations is an iPhone app that will ensure that you are up-to-date on where you can find Banksy’s art. Of course, one can always argue that you can simply do a search on Bansky online, and the chances are that you’ll find a complete list of where to find his art. You can even buy his book and have your own mini Banksy gallery. Then again, why not use the app if it’s there? It makes things easier for you!

Banksy-Locations is perfect for when you feel like taking a walk and seeing the real world instead of relying on pictures online and in books. The app will let you know the exact location of Banksy’s works and give you directions how to get there. More than that, though, you can also get tidbits about Banksy. Not who he is. No, not that. You do get to hear (or read, rather) about what’s going on in Banksy’s world. You never know, if he ever does decide to reveal himself, those who have Banksy-Locations might get wind of it first!

The app is available for $1.99. Even if you’re not a Banksy fan (yet), why not consider getting this app for your iPhone? You’ll thank me later once you see Banksy’s art.

Djay for iPad

The app is a little pricey at $19.99 (if you compare it to the $0.99/$5.00 apps), but this software is one mean DJ-ing tool. Not only has the app satisfied users because of its function, but it has also received the Apple Design Award.

If you don’t particularly like Djay or you don’t want to buy it, you can also use other similar software – as long as it’s Core MIDI-enabled – with the iDJ Live. Key features of the iDJ Live:

  • Scratch wheels are large enough to make the experience more natural
  • There is a crossfader that allows mixing between songs
  • The package includes a headphone/speaker split cable that allows for separating cue and play performance audio
  • Bass and treble controls
  • You also get an iPad stand

For sure, the $100 that you will have to shell out for the iDJ Live will be paid back in full – even double – once you enjoy spinning for your friends. Find out more about the iDJ Live from the official web site.

Talking Easter Egg App

April 18, 2011 by Noemi

Talking Easter Egg
Okay, this is not exactly a gagdet, but we do use apps for gadgets, don’t we? And of all your gadgets, which one is the closest to your heart? I realize that probably isn’t a fair question, as I ought to know that gadget lovers may have a hard time picking a single gadget out of the menagerie of devices that they own. Then again, if you were to pick a few, your iPhone is probably going to be shortlisted. So here is a special app for your iPhone in keeping with the Easter holidays: the Talking Augmented Easter Egg.

Easter has long been associated with eggs decorated in all sorts of ways. Here’s something you may not know about Easter eggs – their origins are pagan, and they were used to symbolize rebirth. They were decorated in bright colors to celebrate new life. When Christianity became widespread, the eggs were used in relation to the resurrection of Christ. Today, Easter is still considered a Christian holiday, and a lot of people still hold to the use of eggs for celebrations.

If you are looking for a different way to conduct your Easter Egg Hunt this year, this Talking Augmented Easter Egg will do the trick as well. All you need is your iPhone, iPod Touch (3rd and 4th gen), or your iPad. You still need an egg for the app to work, but you do not have to hard boil it and paint it yourself.

This is how the app works. First, you have to get a real egg from your fridge – or wherever you put your eggs. Point your device’s camera at the egg, and voila, you’ll have a digital egg that comes alive! I am not pulling your leg – the app will allow you to decorate the egg in the most psychedelic designs that you want; you can also spin and rotate the egg around however way you wish, without worrying about it breaking (although you can do that, too). Once you get your egg to its perfect state, you can even share it on Facebook. Oh, and yes, the egg talks to you. Wait till you get it to talk – the voice will crack you up for sure. (No pun intended.)

There is more to this egg than meets the eye, really. It is an app for kids and those who have kiddie spells every now and then. With this free app, your gadget can come alive in time for the Easter holidays. Get it from the App Store.
