KTF EV-K100

March 22, 2006 by Ben

EV-K100

Another slim phone straight out of Korea, the EV-K100 by KTF, measures in at only 7.9mm thick, and weighs about 60g.

Nevertheless, the KTF has managed to include:

1.3MP camera
MP3 player
165MB internal memory
1.8″ display
EV-DO 3G support

It’s a pity that this model will only be available for purchase in South Korea. However, LG Electronics has expressed an interest in taking over KTF, so there may be some chance that this model, or one similar, will be available throughout the rest of the world.

Sony Ericsson Black Diamond

March 17, 2006 by Ben

Warning: viewing this post without reading the disclaimer may cause interminable depression. The image you see below is just a CONCEPT, it is not in production, and therefore not for consumer sale, and hence you CANNOT have one.

Jaren Goh, a Singaporean industrial designer, has created a concept mobile phone for Sony Ericsson, which he has appropriately coined the Black Diamond.

The proposed specifications include a 4mega-pixel camera, encased in a polycarbonate construct with a mirror finish. The screen however, is the most appealing feature, as the OLED illuminates from underneath the polycarbonate casing, hence the screen appears to have no border.

Samsung E900

Due to the myriad of new Samsung products being shown of at CeBIT 2006, I have been unable to decide which ones to review and which ones to banish to my basement. However, I have trudged through the multitude of entrants and picked up on a few, one of which is the new SGH-E900.

Based on the D870, the E900 measures in at 93 x 45 x 16.5mm, slightly shorter and thicker than its predecessor, however they both weigh 93g. The E900 is GSM Tri-band efficient, with EDGE and GPRS capabilities.

Equipped with a 2mega-pixel camera, and a 2 262k QVGA TFT display to operate it with, the slider phone is able to read WMA/MP3/AAC/MPEG-4/H.263, as well as TV-output, and a Microsoft Office/PDF/JPG/TXT viewer.

Samsung has included 80MB of internal memory, as well as providing extendibility through the microSD slot. The E900 is also capable of Bluetooth and USB data transfer.

Logitech MX610

Logitech MX610

Another CeBIT 2006 culprit, Logitech has launched a few new products at this year’s event, one of which is the MX610 for left-handers; the right-handed model was released in ’05.

I don’t remember the last time I was excited about the release of a new mouse, subsequent to the introduction of the optical mouse, however the MX610 looks so clean and functional, while retaining the element of being ‘cool’ and ‘geeky’.

The features include advanced cordless technology, precision laser tracking system, navigation controls, and email and IM activity lights. Unfortunately the email button only works with Outlook, and the IM button only supports MSN/Yahoo/Windows Messenger. The MX610 goes for about $60.

Sharp Zaurus

The update to the Zaurus, by Sharp, basically means that if you didn’t need the older C3100 version, you won’t need this one either.

The update to the Zaurus is nothing to write home about; furthermore, if you didn’t need the older C3100, you won’t need the newer C3200 model. Having said that, the updated version includes a larger 6GB hard drive, SD memory card slot and a 3.7 VGA touch screen. It runs a 416MHz Intel PXA270 chip, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM.
