The world is slowly but surely adapting to a world where physical books are being slowly replaced by ebooks. Just recently, I’ve cleaned out almost half of the books on my bookshelves (and I tell you, it’s quite extensive) because I have almost all of them in my ebook reader. Reading an actual book is still a more complete experience but with ebooks you get to free up so much space in your home, it’s more environmentally responsible and you can bring your whole library with you if you want. iLuv Releases Home Theater Dock for iPad 2
If there are two things my gadget addicted friends love right now – it’s tinkering with their iPad 2’s and upgrading their home theater setups. Both are fun to do but rarely will those two really meet, that is, until iLuv thought of a way of combining these two hobbies. [Read more…]
Altec Lansing Orbit Stereo Speakers for Laptop Use
Laptops have changed the way we use computers. They’re small, portable and you can bring them anywhere. But despite really obvious advantages, laptops still have their own limitations. For example, majority of the speakers installed on laptops produce tinny sounds mainly because the drivers are very small. This is mainly because of the very packed environment inside the chassis of the computer. Either you learn to live with the small sound that most laptop speakers produce or you actually take a solid step towards experiencing big sounds from your laptop. [Read more…]
Sony Walkman NWZ-W260 Goes Wherever You Go
The youngsters of today might not be impressed when they hear talk about the Sony Walkman, but those who grew up in the 80s and 90s will definitely have special feelings for this music player. It has died, or so some people have said in the past months. With the plethora of more advanced mp3 players in the market, this could be quite understandable. Then again, Sony has just proved the naysayers wrong by releasing the Sony Walkman NWZ-W260.
That does not look anything like the Walkmans that I grew up with, which may be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. What I do like about the Sony Walkman NWZ-W260’s looks is that it is very sleek – definitely in step with the idea that you can take this music player wherever you go.
But that’s not what’s awesome about the Sony Walkman NWZ-W260 – other mp3 players are at least just as portable. What gives this music player the edge is the fact that it’s waterproof. Think about the possibilities! You can work up a good sweat on the treadmill and not worry about ruining your earphones. You can even go run outdoors in the rain and still not have to worry about getting your music player wet – the Sony Walkman NWZ-W260 can handle that! Heck, if you are that hardcore about music, you can probably even wear the player while you take a shower. Or maybe even when you swim.
The Sony Walkman NWZ-W260 is definitely geared at sports minded individuals who need music to get them in the zone. It has a playback time of 8 hours (fully charged, of course). A nice feature is the quick charge that gives the player a boost of power within 3 minutes. This gives you 60 minutes’ worth of juice, which should be enough for a good workout. As for getting music on the Sony Walkman NWZ-W260, it is as simple as dragging and dropping the files. You may opt to use Sony’s own software, iTunes, Windows Media Player, or even Windows Explorer.
The Sony Walkman NWZ-W260 comes in black and white, with the option of 2GB or 4GB for storage. The former will go for $59.99, while the latter will go for $79.99. The units hit the shelves in August.
Polaroid to Release New Camera with Built-in Printer
Almost two years ago, Polaroid announced that it was closing shop for good. The arrival of digital cameras have effectively doomed the company that pioneered instant developing film (kind of like the spiritual grandfather of digital cameras’ ability to preview your photo right after you take it). But the company has come back from the grave and has been releasing new products that is aimed to make it a significant player in the photography market once again. [Read more…]
Bitterness Eliminating Coffee Maker Makes Perfect Coffee Everytime
Coffee has always been a part of my everyday routine. I love drinking coffee because it helps me stay awake when I need to work late and I just love its taste. Oftentimes I do get overboard and my stomach sometimes complains about it. But no matter, I’m still drinking the stuff and looking for that great coffee experience.
A few posts back I talked about the CBTL Kaldi Machine, a single serve coffee machine that is perfect for brewing coffee by the cup, which eliminates excess coffee brewed that only gets thrown away in the end. Now I’ve discovered another coffee making gadget that looks like another great investment for coffee lovers. Hammacher Schlemmer has made available a coffee maker that eliminates the bitterness from coffee. This bitterness eliminating coffee maker looks just like a regular coffeemaker except for the digital controls that won’t look too out of place in a tricked out kitchen. What this coffee maker does is to brew coffee at an extremely hot 200 degrees Fahrenheit. This is called the brewing point for coffee, the temperature that baristas prefer when brewing. At this extremely hot temperature the bitterness of the coffee beans are eliminated and what is extracted is very rich coffee with real full-bodied flavors. It’s the kind of coffee you love drinking at your favorite coffee shop. Regular coffee makers will start brewing even before the brewing point temperatures are reached, which results in bitter coffee. The coffee carafe can hold an equivalent of 12 cups of coffee so you won’t have to worry about brewing multiple batches when friends come over for coffee. The coffee carafe can also be removed mid brew so you can pour yourself a cup if you can’t wait for it the coffee maker to finish brewing.
This coffee maker also has an LCD panel to allow you to program the machine to start brewing at a set time so you can wake up to a pot of freshly brewed, non-bitter coffee.
The Sandless Beach Mat Makes Going To The Beach More Fun
Advances in technology is whizzing by at such a fast pace that you sometimes feel that if you just blink you’ll be left behind. Speaking of being left behind, there are many areas in our lives that need an improvement and a little help from technological innovations. Lifestyle items are one area where technology is not felt so much so when there’s some new thing that offers an actual significant improvement from what we use at present it is just proper that we give it the attention it deserves.
For example, who wouldn’t appreciate a new technology that promises an itchless time at the beach? Sand getting on to your beach mat is just so annoying and it makes lying down in the sun doubly uncomfortable. Yes, you can just shake the sand off but it’s such a bother having to do it over and over again. And the sand, at some point, will just cling to your mat no matter what. That’s why beach bums will really appreciate the Sandless Beach Mat. Technology has come to the rescue once again.
Sand won’t get on to the Sandless Beach Mat no matter what. The mat is a product of technology made for the military (it is used to control sand and dust during helicopter take offs and landings) and now it is available for your use. The mat consists of two layers of polyurethane made with patented manufacturing process that effectively filters sand. Any sand that falls on the mat surface will be filtered down to the bottom instantly, where it will fall to the beach surface. The process is one way, so there’s no fear that the sand from the bottom will somehow manage to get up to the surface. What you have is a mat surface that is always clean whether you’re at the beach or at the park.
