IBM Using Playstation 3’s Cell

Playstation 3’s chip architecture, better known as “Cell”, is going to be used in places other than the video gaming console. IBM is the first to announce that they will be using this technology. They will be using it in their new line of blade servers.

This new technology is sure to power the new servers at lightning fast speeds. The new Cell based systems will be available in the third quarter of 2006, right around when the Playstation 3 itself should be released.
