Here’s something a little predictable with the deluge of digital photo frames turned “awesome” holiday gifts.  What is there left to build over a good product, attach something to it and make it a little more useful.

This it the Coby DP8088 Deluxe 8″ Digital Photo Frame & Clock with Multimedia Playback and 1GB Built-in Memory.  Sells for a whopping US$99.99, which I’m not really sure why.  Are they turning off consumers?  Maybe.  I’d say a price range of about US$65 to $70 would have been more fair.

Feature set listed below:

  • 8″ TFT LCD color display
  • Handsome wooden frame with analog clock
  • 1GB internal flash memory lets you store your favorite photos directly on the frame
  • Displays JPEG photo files
  • Plays MP3 and WMA music files
  • Plays MPEG-4, H.264, and Motion JPEG video files
  • Photo slideshow mode with music
  • Calendar and clock with alarm timer
  • SD, MMC, MS, xD, and CF card slots
  • Full-size USB port for use with flash memory drives
  • Integrated stereo speakers
  • Includes Vividshare™ PC software for creating custom multimedia slideshows
  • Full-function remote control included
  • Wall-mountable design with detachable stand
