Simtrix Slidepoint

Posted by Mr Butterscotch as Computer Peripherals

Ever wanted a completely new pointer device? Well, there are a few weird and wacky devices out there, some of which are completely useless. This one however looks to be a bit more practical than most. The Swiftpoint Slider from Simtrix is designed exclusively for situations where there isn’t a huge amount of desk space to operate. This makes it perfect for the laptop (especially the literal) user.

The ‘Slider’, as the name suggests, actually smoothly glides over the keyboard keys – making the keyboard area function as a mousepad. Impressive, I’m sure you’ll agree. Of course, most – if not all – laptops come with a touchpad built in. If you’re like me though and are a serious user, you’ll agree that they aren’t exactly the most user-friendly or fastest of hardware interfaces.

This is where the slider comes in. It’s built to be as small and functional as possible, whilst taking up very little space. This makes it ideal also for those using a home multimedia device, such as a ‘living-room PC’. It hasn’t been announced yet when this cool gadget will be available but I’m actually quite interested in getting one after seeing it in action.
