The iPhone 3g has emerged as the most popular and sought after phone in the USA, this from the market research group NPD.  Launched just this July (merely 90-days so far), it has surpassed Motorola's Razr.  Razr had a winning streak for a straight 12-quarters prior to the unseating.  Ranking a close third is the RIM Blackberry Curve, fourth is by LG Rumor and LG enV2 came in fifth. Here in the US you'd see a lot of envious eyes looking your way when you flash out your iPhone 3g.  The first gen iPhone was already popular, but the iPhone 3G raked in all the attention with all the 3rd party aps and games ...

The Jupiter Mouse

Posted by Jim as Security
This has got to be one of the wierdest mouse... at least for me, made me look at it twice!  It's from Japan, of course, made of wood.. yeah I know, if you're a back-to-nature kind of guy you'd feel right at home with The Jupiter Mouse.  Made by Actbrise Electronics.  Ok, Jim, if this is a mouse how does it work?  Well... the cursor moves in direction and velocity according to the tilt of the spherical mouse, which rests comfortably in the palm of your hand. Yes, it has an accelorometer.  The Jupiter mouse not only brings a refreshing natural element to your desk bit also offers an exciting new approach to navigating your computer ...

Schwinn Bicycles, America’s most recognized bicycle brand, today unveiled the Tailwind electric bike to bicycle dealers attending the annual Interbike International Bicycle Expo, the largest bicycle trade industry event in North America. When I first saw the unveiling courtesy of CNet's Loaded podcast (with Natalie del Conti) I must admit I raised an eyebrow.  Wouldn't a battery in a bicycle defeat the purpose of an exercise? :)  Ah, but later I found out that in some countries, people commute to work, the market and anywhere else in bikes.  China, Amsterdam, Japan... as examples.  So in lieu of an exercise, pedal energy conservation was the prime motivation.  To bring people from point A ...

I've seen too many USB flash memory gadgets lately.  Sometimes I really like the designs, and sometimes they just make me yawn.  This one though made me curious to check out myself!  Thinkgeek.com is selling the USB 8GB Flash Drive Lighter for about US$60.

• Refillable lighter with built-in USB flash drive

• 8GB capacity

• USB connector slides out of the lighter

• Metal case

• Adjustable flame

• Includes USB cable

• Dimensions: 1.5" x 2.4" x .5" (3.8 x 6 x 1.3 cm)

Perfect for your friendly smoker, I think.  I'm not too sure about data safety though, even if the website promises they can ...

If this table sells this Christmas I bet you there would be so many who'd line-up for it (maybe not like how the iPhone sells).   It's the classic Pong Game for 4 players and all in LED.  This design by SparkFun Electronics.  Took them a full 2 revolutions around the sun to make this first one. Uses 64 RGB serial matrices, 4 Atari controllers, and an LPC2106 dev board to create a cooperative game of Pong. You see the wires under the table, well I think that will fit a square inch micro-chip when this hits the assembly lines.  Definitely worth watching as you know even with all the ultra-graphically enhanced games are still no ...

I know what you're saying "hey, is that a Wacom Tablet there!".  Well, yes it is.  Lenovo's ThinkPad W700 is a 17" marvel that sports a built-in Wacom digitizer.  Dutifully aimed for the graphics industry it would seem it is a good "idea".  While I am just not too sure about the right palm rest, for me, it is a little "out there" but I could see myself using this too.  Anything that would make me work well with my graphics programs (PhotoShop or CorelDraw) without requiring me to add more to my bag, well is an ace. While I do not see this model at Lenovo.com yet, the Lenovo ThinkPad W700 will ...

I distinctly remember playing with a 2-car version of the 8-Lane Scalextric, one of the best moments of my childhood.  Yup... you guessed it... I beat my sister everytime! :)  I always thought about that toy and where it is now.  Perhaps in the attic?  Or donated to YMCA, I don't know.  But I'm sure, if that's still alive, another boy is beating his sister big time! The 8-Land Scalextric is not a game to "have" though.  It's a game to rent for parties and other events.  With it you get a race director, a PA with overhead mic, a computer controlled 8-lane toy, 8 controllers naturally, the choice of race style and ...

I was, at "two points" in my existence, a call center lackey agent and as lackeys agents go, we are barred from viewing "fun" sites. So, to kill time and maximize productivity, I am writing my time away, while everyone else goes out to get fatter. I just lost mondo poundage, and I have no intentions of regaining those. Now while I learned new things, like the software our team supports, I learned one gizmo that has all the bang, wham, boom! Bells and whistles galore that I never explored before... And you'll never guess what it is... Okay! I hate being left hanging, so I am telling you now, so that I won't "Do unto others what I don't want others to do unto me." :p It's...

Here are list of games which I like that are said to be released by 2008, so better watch up for this games. They may or may not be considered gaming gems, but for me it's the gold. These are the games that would really prevent me from outside contact to human beings. I prefer inanimate objects to people and yes, I love my laptop more than my girlfriend. So if I have these games, I would never leave my house and I won't stop playing these games. Devil May Cry 4 GTA IV: Grand Theft Auto IV Resident Evil 5 Fallout 3 Ninja Gaiden 2 Splinter Cell Conviction Fable 2 Halo Wars

Ruth Kelly (current UK Secretary of State for Transport) has had to apologise recently – for yet another data loss fiasco. This time, details of three million candidates for the driving theory test have gone missing. Names, addresses and phone numbers (but not financial data) were kept on the computer hard drive that went missing in the US in May. The question should be asked of course why it took so long for this to come out and arguably why the data was in the US anyway. Did the Driving Standards Agency really need to use a US based contractor? Of course, what makes this more shocking is that it is the second time in a month that ministers ...

Silverlight – Is This Going To Be Web 3.0?

It’s not that often when a technology comes along that leaves me amazed. You know, the sort of thing when you look at it you think “wow, this is good. Not just good, but perhaps is going to make a difference to websites in a very real way in the near future”. [...]

The 3G iPhone

I’ve had 3G on my Nokia N95 enabled since I got it – which is about a month or two ago now. I was thus surprised to learn that the iPhone didn’t include this much faster way to connect to the Internet. Consequently, I wasn’t exactly surprised when Steve Jobs big announcement turned [...]

GPS in 3D: Navigon 7200T GPS Navigator

I’ve had my fair share of traveling around the USA with my trusty NextStar GPS system.  I never leave home without it, Chicago has too many freeways, turn pikes and fly overs for me to deal with.  When I need to get from point A to point B in Chicago land and the [...]
