For a while, the Sony Dash is actually kind of a glorified widget machine. Kind of like an iPad, but imagine that it doesn't have the office suite function, or anything else that makes the iPad so great. The Dash Internet Viewer is a touchscreen WiFi device which can be propped up like a digital photo frame. Oh yeah, it's not portable. So you just have to prop it around your home. It runs Chumby OS, which lets the 7-inch device can run Chumby apps (there are over 1,000 free ones out there already), to which Sony will be adding its own Sony Music and Sony Pictures ...

shadow-1-rm-eng Well, that was fast. A mere three weeks after the Google Nexus One was launched, rumors are coming out about the Google Nexus Two. That's right, guys. We're going to talk about the sequel to the Google Nexus One, even before it starts to warm up in people's pockets. According to the rumors, the Google Nexus Two will be manufactured this time by Motorola. Google is allegedly looking into one of Motorola's not yet in production models, the Motorola Shadow, to be sold as the Google Nexus Two. The Motorola Shadow is going to be a pretty nice phone, with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard while at the same time having an ...

sony-ericsson-faith-09 Let me tell you about this little secret I have: I love QWERTY phones. Ever since I got my hands on Nokia's business class E63 with its beautifully made QWERTY keypad, I refuse to look back. In fact, I don't even know how I got by without QWERTY in the first place. Now Nokia's User Interfaces are another discussion though. I hate the living crap out of Nokia's UI. It's dated and in places ugly - well that's until Symbian gets replaced by Maemo in Nokia's N-Series. Nokia phones do get huge plus points for its solid construction. Yeah, construction beats UI everytime. Sony Ericsson phones, on the other hand, ...

Skiff-Reader1-650x539 Yes, you read the title right: flexible. It's because when I want to read the online copy of let's say Neil Gaiman's Good Omens, I want to bend my reader like I do a real-life newspaper. Let's see the Kindle 2 do that. But kidding aside, the Skiff Reader looks like a great e-reader. Just a quick look at its specs would reveal an amazing 11.5″ screen with a resolution of 1200×1600 pixels! That resolution is big enough to display a full page of The New York Times on the screen. Also, that NYT page? It contains Skiff-only ads to keep them running. I hate seeing ads, actually, but ...

nexusone That was pretty fast, don't you think? Just a few short weeks ago, there came out rumors that Google has been giving its employees a mysterious phone that they were supposed to test out over the holidays. Then we see Google employees praising the phone to high heavens over on their Twitter accounts. Heck, after Google's initial announcement, I was expecting the Nexus One to be released around March to June. So imagine my surprise to see that the Nexus One is already out, but there's a review already on TechCrunch! Michael Arrington himself gives his two cents on the Nexus One. Basically, the phone is everything people loved about Android, ...

googletablet Oh boy, is Google sure on a roll. Mere weeks after the announcement of the Google Phone, the Android-powered Nexus One, and the Google Netbook running (also recently-announced) Google Chrome OS, rumors began flying of another hardware product running Chrome OS. And this time it's a tablet computer.

Are HP webcams racist?

Posted by Ade as Gadgets
Meet Desi. He's in front of an HP MediaSmart computer, and he's testing out the webcam. The webcam is powered by a fancy face tracking software which allows it to track his face within the confine of the frame. Is Desi a happy guy? No. Apparently the tracking software does not work for African-Americans, and he drives home the point in this video: Granted, this video was made for laughs, and HP computers aren't really racist. It's apparently a screw-up with the tracking algorithm; it has a problem detecting contrast for darker skins. HP has heard of this issue, and this is what they say about it: Some of ...

Okay, this isn't really top-of-the-line enough or something I filed under the "OMG I WANT" category, but I find this cellphone to be clever enough I think it warrants an entry here in gadzooki. giant_button_cell_phone This phone has a rather large keypad, making it ideal for the elderly who refuses to let old age get in the way of collecting gadgets. Okay, the name is a bit uninspired (6380 Senior Mobile Phone) but we're talking about a phone here with a small 128×60 screen, for crying out loud. It's not supposed to be inspired. senior_phone_sos My favorite feature so far has got to be the ...

twitterpeek I'm a Twitter addict. I mean, who isn't? Microblogs like Twitter are the first place I go when I log on, and even when I'm on the go I don't forget to fire up my phone and check that darned site. But if you're, I dunno, really into Twitter that you're willing to have an entire gadget just for it, I guess the TwitterPeek is for you. Created by Peek, the company that made push email on non-smartphones possible, TwitterPeek is basically a dedicated Twitter wireless device. I don't honestly see the use for it. Most major mobile phones have a Twitter app that works on Wifi and 3G anyway. Unless ...

Dell Streak MID

Posted by Ade as Gadgets
This video above is featuring the latest MID coming out of Dell. Called the Streak, it runs the newest Eclair (aka, Android 2.0) software courtesy of Google. Other specs include a 5-inch, 800x400 capacitive touchscreen with multitouch, full 3G broadband support plus WiFi and Bluetooth, and a 5.0 MP camera with dual-LED flash. Also coming along for the ride are a microSD slot, a 1300 mAh battery, and what looks like a front-facing camera. It apparently comes in two colors, based on the pictures, and features touch-sensitive controls along the front bezel.

Sony reveals PlayStation Move

I have to admit, my mind is officially blown. Sony finally revealed its new PlayStation 3 motion controller at GDC 2010 in San Francisco, and boy is it looking good.

Dubbed the Playstation Move, the advanced motion controls on this baby makes it supposedly more accurate than that other motion controller from that little-known console from [...]
