Griffin is turning out to be a little Apple. The company has been churning out really cool looking items that make you want to buy them the moment you see them. They might have a little Jonathan Ive at their employ. Anyway, one of Griffin's cool looking gadgets will now be shipped to stores. The Evolve is an iPod dock/speaker set that is one of the best looking I've seen in years. As mentioned, it is both an iPod Dock and also a charging station for the two speakers. The cool thing about the Evolve is that after charging, the speakers can be detached from the, ehem, "mother unit" and it will crank up sounds from ...

First person shooter gamers try to immerse themselves into the game as much as possible in order to really feel that they are actual participants in the virtual space. The development of surround sound is a big help to gamers because it made the simulation of the artificial environment on the real environment quiet easy. One would hear what is happening in the 3D space on the real world and it really made gamers feel that they are that character that they are playing. Now you can add the 3rsd Space FPS Vests from TN Games to your list of immersive accessories. This new gizmo was designed by an actual doctor and the is made ...

Technology has a way of intruding on to even the most benign items. Inventors and crazy guys would think of the weirdest ways to incorporate something high tech into anything they can set their sights on. Would you believe that even the classic rubber duckie -- that eternal symbol of childhood and innocence and one of the simplest of toys -- has now been "technologized". How? Well, with a remote controlled rubber duck. The Remote Control Rubber Duck is available online at play.com. This nifty little bathroom toy has a list price of 26 US dollars and runs on just two AA batteries. It also has a charging capability. Just charge this baby, er, duckie ...

nokia-e65.gifThe nip that you feel in the air is a sure sign that Christmas is just around the corner. Of course, Christmas means many different things to people. Some see it as a time to receive gifts, other see it as that inevitable time when one has to empty one's pockets. the more optimistic set though see Christmas as a time to get what they want without any guilt. I'm still eyeing a Nintendo Wii and an LCD TV (are you listening, Santa?). But for those who are addicted to mobile phones (come on, you know who you are), Nokia has an early Christmas gift. The company announced that it will be slashing ...

d_skin.jpgAs a hard core CD, DVD and game collector I am constantly in fear of the integrity of my collection. Scratches are the biggest enemy of CD media and I have become so anal about handling it that my wife and I have had some rows about this. I would always berate her for not holding the CDs or DVDs or just carelessly plopping it in the tray. I know that I should lighten up but I know that any collector would also feel the same way so although I may feel apologetic for my behavior I know that my paranoia is not unique or unfounded. I recently came across a product that may benefit ...

sony-oled-tv.jpgWith the HD war heating up, the battle between LCD and Plasma is reaching fever pitch. Just like HD DVD and Blu-ray, each camp has its avid supporters who extol the virtues of each technology. But Sony is about to stir things up with the announcement that it will finally release the first OLED TV this December. OLED is widely seen as the best among the three technologies because it is more energy efficient and it allows for the production of extremely thin and ultralight displays. It is also a great technology for showing very vivid pictures that can render fast moving images -- this makes it perfect for action movies or sports. Of ...

ps3.jpgDuring the recently held Tokyo Game Show, the gaming press as well as video game fans were anticipating the announcement of a price cut for Sony's Playstation 3. Unfortunately, this did not happen, which left so many people disappointed. Sony's present price point for the PS3 is proving to be the biggest stumbling block in the company's goal to make units fly off the shelves. That price cut dream looks like its still alive though. Information has surfaced about Sony applying for a new filing with the FCC with regards to a new Playstation 3 with a new model number -- CECHGO1. Some people are speculating that this could be the first proof of ...

detective.jpgThere's no denying it -- the internet age is slowly breeding a race of overweight humans. Surfing the internet or playing videogames over the net are very sedentary activities that only promote bad health and rising weights among people of all ages. I can attest to this, I'm a writer/editor who has been creating online content and blogging professionally for the past three years and I have seen my weight balloon to such a degree that I don't see my Brad Pitt-like looks anymore (that's the red wine talking). It's a good thing that there are companies that are trying to address this problem from the frontlines of the war -- the devices themselves. Kaiser ...

sixaxis.jpgOne of the best examples of corporate white lies is the Playstation 3 Sixaxis controller. When the official controller was announced Sony played up its so-called Sixaxis feature -- which is basically a motion sensing capability similar to the revolutionary Nintendo Wiimote. Some people thought it was an obvious cribbing of the Nintendo Wii's unique selling point but stolen idea or not the concept was quite cool. What made people raise their eyebrows though was the very obvious absence of a rumble feature. According to Sony, the rumble feature would negatively affect the sensitive controls of the Sixaxis -- which is a strange claim given that the Wiimote also has a rumble feature. Gaming ...

iphone.gifIf success in the gadgets market can be measured solely on demand then it would  be safe to assume that Apple's iPhone is a runaway smash. The demand for Apple's so called "jesus phone" is so great that ithe company has already laid down plans to increase the level of production of iPhones by one hundred per cent. The said plan seeks to produce 2.7 million iPhones just for the last quarter, which is significantly larger than the original 1.54 million target.  With the bump in the level of production, it is being seen that iPhones produced for this year will reach 4.8 million iPhones, which is markedly more than the 3.6 million ...

It’s not that often when a technology comes along that leaves me amazed. You know, the sort of thing when you look at it you think “wow, this is good. Not just good, but perhaps is going to make a difference to websites in a very real way in the near future”. [...]

The 3G iPhone

I’ve had 3G on my Nokia N95 enabled since I got it – which is about a month or two ago now. I was thus surprised to learn that the iPhone didn’t include this much faster way to connect to the Internet. Consequently, I wasn’t exactly surprised when Steve Jobs big announcement turned [...]

GPS in 3D: Navigon 7200T GPS Navigator

I’ve had my fair share of traveling around the USA with my trusty NextStar GPS system.  I never leave home without it, Chicago has too many freeways, turn pikes and fly overs for me to deal with.  When I need to get from point A to point B in Chicago land and the [...]
