A Marvel In Engineering

If you're a gadget geek then you're probably like me: you live for those moments when humans achieve exquisite and enormous engineering feats.

Well, it took over six years and about 642 million dollars but the channel bridge over the River Elbe (a river that partially split East and West Germany) has been completed. Basically what you have here is water route engineered to go overtop another river and connect two canals on either side. Previously, boats would have to actually enter the River Elbe to cross from one canal to the next, creating a water intersection. This channel-bridge eliminates that intersection. Us geeks sometimes have a hard time finding a date. I've gone through all kinds of stages. Trying to pick up girls at star trek conventions went out of fashion at the holiday inn back in 1999. While geeks may have a difficult time finding dates once you bag a geek, life can actually be pretty nice. Geeks tend to be more sensitive. More caring, and less aware of reality. Good design is important to me on a number of levels. But great design just blows me away. The key thing in bringing our partners on was great content, and great design. I want to talk about design a little and its implications on a technology blog. Acer had never been one of my favorite brands of computers but this new release has caught my attention. Their latest gaming computer is dubbed the Acer Predator Aspire G, and it really is something else. At first glance, you might not be that impressed. Mini Nokia N97 Spotting

Did you ever think that they would come out with a tiny version of the Nokia N97? Kunal Gangar at Tech Ticker wrote a blog post on the “leak” yesterday and not only did he write about it – he showed pictures! Take a look at that. At this point, the phone seems to be at the prototype stage. Seems to me that the iPhone faces more and better competition as time passes by. In fact, when I heard about the Palm Pre last year (or was it earlier this year) I thought that I might have found something to best the iPhone.
